Second and third meet in 9 goal clash.

This week TCS welcomed unbeaten Bridgwater 3s to Bishop Fox’s with both teams expecting an explosive game.

Bridgwater made an extremely quick start and within minutes had taken the lead following some slick play on the break, smashing in past the TCS back line from the edge of the D. The lead was soon doubled and the afternoon looked to be a long one for the Taunton side. After 20 minutes Bridgwater were 4 up and TCS were forced into a change at the back to try and stop an exceptionally strong Bridgwater attack. TCS were handed a lifeline as an own goal from the glove of the otherwise formidable Bridgwater keeper, from a deftly flighted shot from Jason Harris, gave hope. Shortly before the break a good piece of build up play saw a perfectly timed ball slid across the goal from Jason Harris to Lee Slade who tucked away from close range. Unfortunately, there was still time for Bridgwater to respond and as the ball rattled Bob Snedden’s post from a drag flick, everyone but Bridgwater’s goal scorer froze and the ball quickly smashed the backboard. 5 - 2 at half time.

The second half was a much more cagey affair with the sting seemingly taken out of the Bridgwater attack TCS imposed themselves on the game and had the better of the action but lacked the clinical finishing touch in front of goal. Mike Eele added to his tally for the season with a fine strike at the breakdown of a short corner. TCS stuck to the task and battled from back to front but unfortunately couldn’t make the game closer. In the dying seconds another Bridgwater short corner gave them the final say in the game and rounded off a very competitive game with Bridgwater taking the spoils 6 goals to 3.

There were notable performances across the pitch with many names mentioned in the running for man of the match with Toby coming out on top. A fine game characterised by great battling, fine positional play and passes that opened the defence. Honourable mentions to both Mike and Jason picking up votes with both scoring, Jason assisting and Mike turning the game at the back. DOTD went to Lee taking an overwhelming vote including his own, for a miss at close range (although definitely bobbling).

The 2s now have a couple of weeks break before playing Bridgwater 4s on the 26th February. Well played today gents.
