Taunton CS Mens 1XI start the season off in style in Wells v Mid Somerset.
Four fantastic quarters of play by the Taunton Mens CS in their first friendly of the season, easing out to be comfortable winners by 2-0. The first quarter saw CS really put pressure on the home team at the top of the pitch, pressing at every opportunity, and it was very quickly 1-0, with the opener coming from Liam Headaux, placing the ball inside the keepers near post. Chances continued to come during the quarter from the pressure, with quality saves made by the home keeper made to Jacob Connock, Sean Headaux and Calvin Bull.
The second quarter was a tighter affair with the home team also having a few chances, however the back line of Carpenter, Coombe, Witt and Ormerod kept the ball away from keeper Heayns who dealt with the shots that did come his way with the usual style and conviction. Eventually a break up the left lead to an opportunity for Jones, who with options at the back post from the ever present Sean Hedaux, put the ball neatly inside the near post for Taunton CS's 2nd.
The third quarter required the midfield engines to keep the momentum up, the legs of Hoaen, Leweke and Hinds kept the structure and enabled the team to try a change of tactic in the final quarter with the 2 goal cushion.
Aerial balls were thrown in the latter stages of the game, taking out the frontline and midfield of Mid Somerset, opportunities were there for the third goal however it wasn't to be, shots by Rew peppering the goal but remaining out.
A great friendly, played in great spirit with huge positives to take forward into a home match next Saturday versus Chard.
