Taunton CS Mens 1st XI started their league season in Southern 1 with a simply stunning victory against East Devon.
Right from the start of the match the tempo of the game was that of the home side, solid at the back and speed through the transition into the forward line - the East Devon defence unaware of how to keep the red shirts at bay.
A solid short corner flicked low by Rew was stopped on the goal line by an East Devon foot, the resulting stroke put away by Sean Hedaux. A second goal was put away by Jones after he stripped the ball from the East Devon defence, creating daylight between the teams. East Devon did get one back, but again the pressure from CS remained and a third goal was scored by Jake Wakling, tucking the ball in at the back post. East Devon did get a second goal and the half finished with the home team up 3-2.
The second half was much closer with both teams having chances, good saves made from Joe Heayns and the defence of Witt, Adams, Coobe, Hinds and Carpenter clearing up the attacks. A 4th goal mid way through the half was carved out from the front players. with Bull committing the GK and giving Rew a walk in goal.
The rest of the half was closed out with no further goals for either of the teams, solid midfield play from Coles, Empsall, Hinds and Pressly-Smith.
A wonderful start to the season, 4-2 winners at the first home fixture.
