First loss in three games

Taunton CS travelled to Yeovil to take on second placed Yeovil and Sherborne A.

With a Toron Everett, Harry Elsmore and Miles Cave absent the defensive line up was re organised to include Jim Smith dropping back from midfield and Joe Haynes stepping between the posts for his first appearance of the season.

The game started with the home side benefiting from the majority of the possession however Taunton were able to comfortably deal with the any attacking threat and finally began to find their feet and to pose some attacking threats of their own. Unfortunately the home side took the lead midway in the first half when the Taunton defence allowed one Yeovil forward too much space allowing him time to collect the ball and fire Yeovil into the lead. Taunton hit straight back however it seemed that it would be a frustrating afternoon as a number of through balls were unable to be picked up and capitalised on by the Taunton forwards. Taunton maintained the pressure and were able to get back on level terms before half time with Ben Witt levelling the score line having collected a pass in the area from Lee Slade.

The second half started with both sides very much still in the game and both sides created a number of opportunies to take the lead. Unfortunately it was the home side who scored after a ball, injected into the area at pace turned in by an unmarked Yeovil forward at the far post. Taunton looked to push on to get back on even terms and tried to play higher up the pitch which left Yeovil several opportunities to counter once of which resulted in the award of a penalty corner. Things then went from bad to worse from the Taunton skipper who, after the short corner was initially cleared was unable to deal with the resulting cross which unfortunately deflected of his stick, clipping the post and spinning in to the goal. At three one down and with a mountain to climb Taunton continued to try and push to get back in the game, however luck was not on their side as numerous attacks were broken down. Again the home side benefited from a further corner where the ball somehow manage to squeeze through two defenders stick and across the line to earn Yeovil and Sherborne a 4-1 victory and a first defeat for Taunton in three games.

Ben Caile was awarded M.O.M for a battling display at the back and despite not playing, Toron Everett was awarded D.O.D for claiming he could not play away due the fact he needed to be back in time for a carnival which started at 7.30pm.

Team was as follows; Joe Haynes (GK), Ben Caile, Jim Smith, Ali Johnston (c), Jason Harris, Simon Jones, James Coles, Jesse Mooney, Ben Witt (1), Mark Sawyer, Lee Slade and Fin Porter
