Taunton CS 11 - ECV Hornets B 0

Starting Line-up: Joe Haynes as Keeper, across the back from left to right - Toron Everett, Ali Johnston, Jim Smith, Harry Elsmore, in midfield James Coles and Simon took the centre, with Curt Bradley and Skipper Fin Porter on the wings. Mark Sawyer and Ben Witt started upfront. On the side was Sam Woodland and Jamie Everett.

With a slightly cooler day and a full side lining up for CS’s second game of the league, CS faced off against ECV Hornets B.

From the first blast of the whistle CS had the upper hand, holding the Hornets to their own 16, batting away attempts to get through and making several dangerous attempts on goal. When it looked like the Hornets were going to break away, they were picked up by the high defending line, passed up through the ranks to Mark Sawyer to score the first of three for the first half. Simon Jones also converted a short-corner to put the score to four-nil by the end of the first half.

The Second half continue much like the first, with CS dominating the field to the point where Simon Jones described Joe Haynes (Keeper) of being ball-shy when he refused to touch the ball once all game. Mark Sawyer scored another two putting his game total to five, Simon scoring a hat-trick in the second half to put his tally up to four. Goals also scored by Toron Everett and Sam Woodlands added to the tally, leaving the Hornets in the dust. Final score Eleven-nil.

Assists for the 11 goals were secured by Ben Witt, Sam Woodland, Harry Elsmore, Mark Sawyer, Curtis Bradley, James Colesy and Fin Porter.

Man of the Match was awarded to Harry Elsmore for his continuous effort, playing all over the right hand side of the field, including picking up an assist.

Honourable mention was split between Jim Smith and James Colesy, both of whom put a massive effort in.

Even though Toron Everett was playing, DotD was also split between James Coles and Skipper Fin Porter, for the second week in a row, this time for missing the goal again and then tripping over absolutely nothing, with no other player near him within a 5m radius. James Coles was nominated for being a little over zealous with his stick tackles, especially on a 10 year old, and a miss from millimetres, followed by a very “Colesy” explosion of disappointment.
