Taunton began the game two players up as Minehead is an area of the world where alarm clocks are unheard of. Unfortunately we were unable to make the advantage count and within five minutes Minehead were back to a full compliment. The first half was a struggle for us as a lack of composure under passing led to lots of pressure on our defence. Strong performances at the back meant that we went into half time only 1-0 down and a rousing team talk made everyone consider their role in the second half carefully. However the passing continued to be off the pace and the pressure built again leading to a second back post goal for Minehead. After this point our morale dropped and the performance of those in charge of the game dipped similarly. A questionable short corner gave Minehead a third goal and from that point we lost our heads and our drive. 4 goals came in quick succession alongside more dubious decisions as well as plenty of arguments with umpires from several members of the team. After the match attention turned to the new fine system resulting in Andy receiving the highest fine for a collection of misdemeanours. All in all not a fantastic day but next week is a new game, bring on Mid-Somerset!
