Taunton CS A v West Dorset A

Due to a number of players departing the club during the summer months and as a result of a number of injuries Taunton CS A named a young side for their first league game of the season.

The opening five minutes of the game saw Taunton penned into their own half after a number of plays from West Dorset. Having seen out the opening minutes Taunton were able to gain some possession of the ball as the game settled down. The first goal of the game was scored by Taunton as James Coles was able to break through the midfield before passing the ball in to the path of Dan Adams who with one touch was able to deflect the ball past the keeper at the top of the area to see Taunton take the lead against the run of play.

The game continued with both teams moving the ball and finding space down the wings. A defensive lap by Taunton allowed West Dorset to bring the scores level as they were allowed to pass the ball across the front of goal were the West Dorset forward was allowed to hit the back board at the far post.

The second half was evenly matched with both teams searching for the win however it was West Dorset that were allowed to capitalise on further defensive lapse which saw them gain possession at the top of the area and strike the ball in to the top of the Taunton goal. Taunton were presented with a number of opportunities to level the scores however a number of squandered short corner routines meant that West Dorset were able to travel back to Bridport with the three points.
