Minehead A vs Taunton C.S A

Taunton CS A were able to secure their first point of the season against a Minehead team that had started the season strongly.

The first half saw both teams fairly evenly matched. Taunton CS A created the clearer chances with a number of shots going narrowly passing the wrong side of the post. At the other end of the pitch it appeared that Taunton CS A were comfortably dealing with the Minehead forward which was demonstrated by the Taunton goalkeeper, Mike Whitman, only touching the ball once in the first half.

With the scores still at 0-0 the second half started in much the same way as the first half however Minehead were creating more opportunities to exploit the Taunton defence. The deadlock was in fact broken by Minehead when one of their forwards was able to step in front of the Taunton defender at the back post to tuck the ball into the back of the Taunton net.

Taunton immediately tried to re-assert their authority on the game and did not have to wait too long. Mark Sawyer was able to collect a through ball and was able to deftly touch the ball past the on rushing Minehead keeper to put Taunton CS A back on equal terms midway through the second half.

As the game progressed the game opened up with a period of scrappy play from Taunton. However Taunton were able to tighten up and the last 10 minutes of the game saw Taunton searching for an opportunity to take al three points. It was not to be and the game ended 1 -1 giving Taunton their first point of the season.
