In their second game of the weekend, Taunton faced top of the table Mid-Somerset. Having beaten ISCA the previous day, spirits were high. However, after their loss earlier in the season, no-one was overconfident.
As with the game in Exeter earlier in the weekend, Civil began with a show of strength. For much of the first half, they retained possession and maintained a steady stream of pressure.
A prolific Mark Sawyer scored the opener, granting the lead to the home side. In a half that saw the Taunton goalie drawing patterns in the sand, another goal was all but inevitable; Simon Jones took the credit.
The second period showed a completely different game. Mid-Somerset took up a passing game, moving the ball with alacrity. The defence was repeatedly tested as attackers made several incising runs. Finding space, the ex-Captain of Civil Service A, Andy Carter, beat Mike Whitman to score the away side's first goal.
The onslaught continued and though the defence successfully weathered a series of short corners, an insistent passage of play found an equaliser. Pressing forwards, the keeper was wrong-footed as the ball was sent across the D; the receiving striker slotted it past him.
Despite a spirited counter-attack, the home side was unable to retake the lead and the game ended a draw.
Captain Ali Johnston was awarded man of the match for his performance and a fine stick save on a short corner.
