ISCA D vs Taunton C.S. A

Thanks to the wonderful weather, this was the first league game of 2013 for Civil Service. It must be said that the men were a little rusty, mostly in our tackle; ISCA dubbed us the "dirtiest team they'd played all season." So we did something right.

Taunton started strongly against the second in the table side. Despite being second from bottom, the away team dominated the first period, denying ISCA much in the way of possession or territory. Despite a couple of good opportunities, Ben Whit opened the scoring. In a scramble around the goal after a short corner, he managed to convert his chance.

Although their position in the league suggested otherwise, the home team put up little resistance for the rest of the game. Even Dan Adams' yellow card gave them no advantage. Mark Sawyer scored twice in the second half to seal the win, with Ben Whit providing the assists for both.

In defence, keeper Mike Whitman kept a clean sheet; a first. However, he barely touched the ball and the Civil defence must be credited with a top notch performance. They did not have to defend a single short corner.
