Bruised and battered

Taunton CS started brightly against Chard and exerted considerable pressure with the home team forced back into their own half for long periods. Service created numerous chances but were unable to convert and the teams went in to half-time 0-0.

Shortly after the break, Taunton went down to ten men due to injury and the pressure started to mount. The Service back line were under considerable pressure and eventually conceded a goal after a string of short-corners - a drag-flicked finish which evaded the salmon-like leap from stand-in keeper Julian Brown.

Attempting to claw themselves back into the game, Service valiantly pushed forward but fatigue and numerical inferiority wore the away team down and a second was conceded. With James Coles now limping from a pulled hamstring, the odds were firmly stacked against a memorable comeback. The Service defence tenaciously defended their D and managed to limit the deficit to two goals at the final whistle.

Man-of-the-match honours went to Dan Adams who defended fiercely and attacked well down the right wing. Special mention also to Curtis Bradley who put in a spirited display.
