If dropping two points the previous week against Teign was preying on the team’s mind then it was not evident as Taunton breezed past a young (development) PGSOB side.
Although a number of players were missing from the squad Taunton were determined to get back to winning ways and there experience of a number of players proved two much for PGSOB with goals flowing easily from no less than seven members of the team.
Leading the way was Mark Sawyer (5) who is clearly conscious of other players competing with him this season for the Golden Stick. Man of the Match Seth Price, on his first league start terrorized the left hand side of the pitch with his pace and finished the game with a goal and two assists. Further goals came from Jim Smith, Ben Witt and Andy Carter. Not wanting to be left out the defence also got themselves on the score sheet with Jason Harris driving having collected a loose clearance from a short corner and Dan Adams scoring from close quarters after making one of his runs from right back.
Mike Whitman was able to keep his second clean sheet of the season although it was largely a quiet afternoon for him and the score at the final whistle was 11-0, Taunton’s biggest win of the season and first in double figures!
Taunton will be looking for more of the same as they travel to Sidmouth next week to play bottom of the league Sidmouth and Ottery.
