Taunton brush aside Bridgwater

Fresh off a record victory the week before against Plymouth Uni Taunton CS faced a tough run in to the Christmas break with games against Bridgewater and North Devon two teams well established in the top half of the table.

The Bridgwater fixture has always been fiercely contested and certainly did not disappoint! Taunton CS quickly took the upper hand in the fixture opening up a three goal lead within the first quarter of an hour. However chinks in the armour began to show as Dan Adams was shown a yellow card within seconds of coming onto the pitch after clashing with the Bridgwater centre forward. Bridgwater were able to capitalise with two goals in return to get back in the game.

The match continued with a high level of intensity fuelled by various exchanges with the umpires whose aggressive stance to queries from players increased the aggression on the pitch. In order to see out the win Taunton CS needed to maintain their composure in the second half which, with the exception of Simon Jones effectively carding himself for arguing, was maintained. As a result Taunton CS scored a further five goals in the second half to end up comfortably winning 8 -2 and maintaining their lead at the top of the table.

Several players were able to add to their goal tallies with Seth Price, Andy Carter and Lee Slade bagging a brace apiece and Mark Sawyer (1) and Jim Smith (1) also getting in on the act. Upon reflection after the game there was only one contender for DOD which went to Simon Jones for his self-appointed yellow card.
