One final was left to overcome in order for Taunton to finish the first half of the season unbeaten, second placed North Devon. Despite missing leading goal scorer Mark Sawyer (to a romantic weekend away) Taunton CS were able to field a string team.
Focus was placed on maintain the simple yet effect style of hockey that had served Taunton so well to date. North Devon proved to be a well organised side holding the Taunton attacks at bay while proving that they could be a threat. However the home side eventually broke down North Devon’s defence with the pace of Seth Price cutting in from the left.
The game continued to me a hard fought affair with Taunton capitalising on their chances to eventually open up a four goal lead late into the second half. With the game seemingly safe North Devon were able to pull one goal back however it was too little too late.
As a result Taunton were able to head into the mid-season break four points clear of second placed East Devon and were able to reflect on some very promising performances from the first half of the season.
Goals were scored by Simon Jones (1), Seth Price (2) and Ben Witt (1). Man of the Match went to Ben Caile and DOD awarded to Mike Whitman.
